How do I choose materials for kitchen fronts and worktops?

Kitchen facade materials

The majority of the cost of kitchen furniture is made up of material costs. LMDP is produced by pressing wood chips and coating them with laminate. Furniture made from this board is resistant to mechanical damage. It is a quality and cost-effective choice, which can be covered with different textures. Examples can be seen in the Oregano furniture set, which uses 18 mm LMDP (laminated particleboard) with edges covered with 2 mm PVC tape.

MDF – Painted Wood Dust Fibreboard – is made from medium-density fibreboard and binding agents. They are easy to process and have no restrictions on colour choice, and are available in different filings. These panels can be combination milled to create a unique style and distinction. It is a popular choice that looks great in suites such as Basil with Rosemary.

MDP particleboard coated with natural wood veneer to create the feel and texture of natural wood. The edges of the board are covered with a natural 2 mm veneer. You can see this type of furniture in the Marjoram set.

Solid wood – this type of furniture is made from natural oak, ash or alder wood. This type of furniture is long-lasting and more environmentally friendly. They can be painted in a natural colour – varnished wood – or they can be painted, but they always retain the texture of the wood. The frames can be made of solid wood and the surface (inlay) can be made of MDF – wood dust board or solid wood. This is a solid and luxurious choice. Saffron is available in solid wood.

You can choose a similar shade to the kitchen fronts or, on the contrary, choose a contrasting worktop. Granite is a solid, elegant choice. It’s a highly practical material, easy to maintain and will last for decades, as it’s completely resistant to moisture. Granite worktops create a feeling of luxury and exclusivity, as each slab is unique and the pattern is not repeated. The product is available in a variety of naturally created shades, with different gloss finishes, and you can choose from light to completely black granite. Cast stone is a combination of naturalness and modern synthetic materials. It’s also easy to combine with other materials and blends perfectly into all our furniture sets. It is also a material with a wide range of colours. They create a modern feel as they can be assembled in such a way that there are no signs of any stab marks. No bacteria can grow on cast stone products and no stains remain, as the non-porous structure of the material does not absorb liquids. The moulded stone worktop can be refurbished if necessary.

HPL compact laminates with a thickness of 10 mm are composite materials consisting of heat-treated resin and paper. These worktops are highly moisture-resistant, thin and easy to install in a wide range of kitchens, making them very suitable for small spaces. With a thickness of only 10 mm, these worktops help to save space and make the most of the space available at window sills or furniture joints. It is also available in different colours and textures. The sink can be glued on the underside if you choose such a worktop.

40 mm MDP – particleboard covered with HPL – a high-pressure laminate with a thickness of 0.6-0.8 mm that is resistant to impacts and scratches. This is a durable worktop that is easy to clean and maintain. This choice is both practical and economical.
